2010 Program

The philosophy behind the programming of a show for the Kilties is to choose and create material which is challenging and enjoyable for the performers and staff, yet is able to be appreciated by and entertaining to every person in our varied audiences. The product must be creative and well-crafted without giving up the power, intensity and excitement which traditionally had been the trademark of the drum corps activity.

(Update Oct. 16, 2009) It is with great excitement that The Kilties announce their 2010 field show concept and musical pieces on which it will be based. “A Night at the Opera” is the title for our 2010 production which is built on four very strong musical compositions that also offer much in the way of visual motivation. The source pieces are:

Ride of the Valkyries - Richard Wagner
William Tell Overture
- Gioachino Rossini
Bohemian Rhapsody
- Freddie Mercury (Queen)
Bacchanale (Samson and Delilah)
- Camille Saint-Saëns

The design team will again consist of Scott Stewart as program director, Rick Kirby as brass arranger, Jeff Moore as percussion arranger, Dave Koelz on visual and Angie Klingenmeyer on guard.

2010 Performance Schedule

The 2010 performance schedule will be announced as soon as it is available. Stay tuned to this website or our other social media sites for the announcement of our 2010 schedule.

2009 Financial Information

In 2010, the Kilties will have possibly the lowest cost of membership in the entire activity. This is because expenses are carefully watched and many expenses will be eliminated because of the dedication and altruism of the management, teaching, design and support staff.

The investment in your corps has not yet been established for 2010; however, in 2009  it was only $300. This includes the full cost of bus transportation from Racine to out-of-area performances (members may still drive on their own if they prefer) and select other performances, and many of the meals served.

The only other expenses are some uniform accessories, housing at the DCA Championships and meals that are not provided by the corps. If you come from out of the area, you are responsible for your own transportation to and housing while in Racine. We will, however, help with carpooling advice and housing with local members or sharing a hotel room with other “out-of-towners.”

Dues (or shares as we call them) are paid in equal payments beginning at the camp in December and finishing in May. If you wish to pay all of your investment up front, it is always appreciated and help with the cash flow of the organization.

All of the corps' camps are guided with strict time management to accomplish the goals placed to the membership and the organization as a whole. Personal "at home" practice time is of great importance and value with the corps utilizing "state of the art" internet tools for the members use to achieve excellence.
